Broony and Tav- when the consoling arm of friendship is rejected

Even in the heat of battle Scott Brown can find time to show compassion for a struggling rival, sadly it is one of many qualities that James Tavernier is lacking.

With the score tied 11-1 last night at Pittodrie capt’n Tav was having to contend with the double whammy of having a penalty awarded against his side and a player sent off.

As his six and a half years in Scottish football has shown when the going gets tough the former Wigan utility man melts under pressure, he even put his feelings in writing to Ibrox fans just under two years ago. Before a defeat from Hamilton Accies.

Disappointingly Broony’s friendship gesture was rejected by Tav, earlier Broony had helpfully pointed Ryan Kent towards the tunnel at Pittodrie after the former Liverpool star was sent off.

He might be by far the most successful player currently in Scottish football but there is a caring, compassionate side to Broony that some opponents can’t cope with.
