Callum McGregor undergoes surgery

Callum McGregor underwent surgery on his cheekbone today, VideoCelts understands.

The Celtic captained had to be substituted after a collision with Alloa’s Adam King with James McCarthy taking over.

There has been little news out of Celtic in the 24 hours since the incident but VideoCelts understands that McGregor underwent surgery today.

Ange Postecoglou will give an update on Tuesday at his media conference ahead of the match against Hearts the following day. John Beaton will take charge of the Tynecastle clash.

It’s a facial injury, I don’t know what it is but he’s not a great shape. It’s not going to be short-term, it looked quite significant.

It’s been that sort of season. We have just had challenge after challenge and what we’ve done so far is just get on with it.

He’s a very important player, not just for what he contributes as a footballer but as a person. I am gutted for him more than anything else.
