Celtic have stepped up criticism of Scottish referees on their Twitter account today.
Ange Postecoglou was very outspoken during his media conferences yesterday, highlighting how he told his players to avoid tackling and physical contact in the closing stages of the Scottish Cup tie against Alloa Athletic.
The hoops boss highlighted the responsibility that referees have to apply the Laws of the Game to protect players, at Alloa Callum McGregor, Liel Abada and Yosuke Guchi were all injured with Stephen Welsh and Jota lucky to avoid being added to that list.
?? “You want referees to provide that protection for both sets of players, both from deliberate actions but sometimes just by reckless action.”?
Ange Postecoglou is looking for protection for his players?

About time the club was making this most basic of requests. Ange was great on this yesterday. A level playing field is too much to hope for but protecting players from career ending injury can’t be too much to ask.

It’s not just don Robertson.

You mean we want referees to actually do their job????

It is very unusual for club media to highlight any areas of controversy, last season the club provided no coverage of Neil Lennon’s explosive criticism of the authorities following Celtic’s training trip to Dubai.
Despite Postecoglou’s comments it remains to be seen if Celtic take the issue up with the SFA at the 2021 AGM Ian Bankier claimed that the club was working on referee issues in the background.
It’s about time the spineless Celtic board started causing eruptions with the sfa ,what happens if one of these tackles ends one of our players career. They are his employer and are duty bound to look after his welfare at work ie on the football field.
Eternal thanks to Wim for what he did. He not only stopped the financially doped old Rangers from cheating their way to 10 titles, he also started the chain of events that eventually lead to their final demise in 2012.
The new club has a proud record of one major trophy in 10 years.
