Adam Montgomery looks like being the next departure from Celtic.
So fat Ewan Henderson has gone out on loan to Hibs ahead of a permanent move, Liam Shaw has joined Motherwell on loan with Lee O’Connor’s loan to Tranmere converted into a permanent deal.
Montgomery has made 18 appearances so far this season but with a few new faces added to the squad has failed to be involved in the two matches played since the winter break.
The Daily Record reports:
Adam Mongtomery is set to join Kilmarnock on loan after Celtic approved the switch to Rugby Park. 19-year-old Montgomery is highly-rated at Parkhead and made 18 appearances in the first half of this season.
But with Ange Postecoglou reinforcing his squad in January, minutes are going to be hard to come by and Montgomery had various loan options on the table in the English Championship and League One.
However Celtic would prefer him to stay in Scotland and Postecoglou wants to see him get a run of first-team football before returning in the summer.
The emergence of Liam Scales gives Ange Postecoglou another option at left-back with Josip Juranovic able to play in either full-back role,
Kilmarnock are currently in third place in The Championship, four points behind surprise leaders Arbroath with only the league winners being automatically promoted.
With Derek McInnes now in charge Killie are expected to mount a strong challenge over the remaining 15 matches which gives Montgomery the sort of challenge and pressure that his development needs.
