Adam Montgomery is reported to be a transfer target for Kilmarnock.

The teenager made his Celtic debut at the tail end of last season and has featured in 18 matches under Ange Postecoglou.

With four players already added to the first team squad this month further opportunities look limited for Montomery who needs regular first team action to progress his career.

Kilmarnock recently appointed Derek McInnes in a bid to bounce back to the Premiership at the first opportunity with the Ayrshire side keen to bring in the Celtic prospect.

The Sun reports:

Montgomery, 19, is being chased by several clubs but Killie are poised to win the chase. New Rugby Park boss Derek McInnes has already signed Kyle Lafferty, Ash Taylor, Daniel MacKay and Dylan Tait.

But he revealed he is still looking for new faces after Saturday’s Scottish Cup defeat to Dundee United.

McInnes said: “We have got enough numbers, but I believe we are maybe one or two different types away. That could help us.

“I am pleased with the work that’s been done, I am delighted with the board and the help they’ve offered on that front. Maybe one or two going out will give us the freedom to get more in.”

Liam Shaw and Ewan Henderson have already left Celtic on loan this month with a deal for Osaze Urhoghide expected soon.

With Kilmarnock expected to push for automatic promotion Montgomery would be going into another pressurised environment with the only downside being the artificial surface at Rugby Park.

In the final week of the transfer window it is likely that there will be more departures than arrivals at Celtic.
