Aberdeen have completed the loan transfer of Adam Montgomery.

The 19-year-old broke into the Celtic side towards the end of last season and has made a total of 18 appearances this term, mainly in the early stages before Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor returned to fitness to compete for the left-back slot.

Kilmarnock had been strongly tipped to sign Montgomery but it seems that complications at Rugby Park and developments at Aberdeen created the option for him to move north.

Montgomery’s Celtic career briefly overlapped Scott Brown with the Aberdeen skipper and coach likely to have been heavily involved in pushing through the loan.

Five years ago Ryan Christie went on loan to Aberdeen, after a season and a half at Pittodrie he returned to become a serious part of Brendan Rodgers’ successes.

Montgomery could be involved away to Ross County tomorrow night, on February 19 Celtic visit Pittodrie with the loan bhoy having to sit that one out.
