Chris Sutton reacts as Don Robertson’s honest mistake denies Livingston an Ibrox penalty

Last week at Pittodrie Kevin Clancy denied Aberdeen an early penalty when Allan McGregor clipped Ryan Hedges just inside the penalty box. Compounding the mistake Ianis Hagi opened the scoring within a minute of that mistake.

Don Robertson didn’t have the best of weekends when he took charge of Alloa against Celtic in the Scottish Cup, last night at Ibrox he proved that his Indodrill Stadium performance wasn’t a one off.

Positioning himself at the edge of the penalty box for a Livingston corner he had a clear view as a net-bound header was diverted into the arms of McGregor by the left arm of Alex Lowry.

All of the Livingston players in the penalty box turned to Robertson who was quickly running away from the scene, bizarrely pointing to his chest rather than the penalty spot.

A 1-0 win keeps Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side four points clear of Celtic at the top of the table.
