D-Day with Celtic in Leigh Griffiths talks

James McPake has confirmed that a decision will be taken today on Leigh Griffiths’ future at Celtic.

The striker moved on loan to Dundee at the end of the summer transfer window but has only scored two goals from eight starting appearances in the SPFL Premiership.

Celtic handed Griffiths a 12 month contract in July but then decided that the 31-year-old was surplus to requirements, that situation could now be repeating itself at Dens Park.

Last night McPake told The Sun:

We are in discussions at the minute regarding that as a club internally and externally with Celtic as well. A decision will be made tomorrow.

Dundee are currently second bottom of the Premiership with the club and McPake under pressure to ensure that their time in the top flight isn’t restricted to just one season.

With Cillian Sheridan out injured for the season and Jason Cummings subjected to internal disciplinary action before Christmas some big decisions have to be made.

If Griffiths is returned to Celtic he could go out on loan to another club but that is an issue that Ange Postecoglou would rather avoid as he gears up for the second half of the season.
