Benji Siegrist is reportedly the target of a pre-contract deal to move to Ibrox.

The Dundee United keeper has regularly been linked with Celtic and turned in some outstanding performances against the hoops.

At the age of 29 his next contract looks like being the most significant of his career with interest reported across Europe.

Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail reports:

Rangers are planning a pre-contract move for Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

Entering the last six months of his current deal at Tannadice, the Swiss is free to talk to interested clubs. On the radar of English Premier League side Southampton, the 29-year-old also has interest from Germany, France and Belgium.

However, a summer switch to Ibrox has now emerged as an option for Siegrist, who has been a consistent performer over four seasons in Scottish football.

Current Ibrox No 1 Allan McGregor turns 40 this month and has yet to decide if he will stay on at Rangers for another year. Scotland international Jon McLaughlin is also out of contract at the end of the current campaign and, after nine appearances, has yet to sign an extension.

Scott Bain is Celtic’s back up to Joe Hart with the former Dundee keeper making four appearances this season.

Hart signed a three year contract with Celtic at the start of July and is the clear first choice with strong reports that the club is looking to offload Vasilis Barkas this month.
