Juninho Bacuna is set for a rapid Ibrox exit after starting just three matches.

The midfielder was signed on August 19 on a free from Huddesrfield Town who had a completely useless sell-on clause inserted in the deal.

Despite sounding like a footballer the 24-year-old has made zero impact since moving to Scotland with relegation threatened Birmingham City ready to cut his stay short.

Six months into his two year contract the Daily Record reports:

Birmingham City are on the verge of a permanent deal for out of favour Rangers midfielder Juninho Bacuna.

The Blues are keen to green light the Dutchman a return to the English Championship after sparse game time in Glasgow.

Toiling Birmingham are believed to be unable to cover what Bacuna is on at Rangers but an agreement looks likely to be struck.

Bacuna moved to Rangers from Huddersfield in August but has struggled for first-team football but featured in the Scottish Cup stroll over Stirling Albion.

After securing the Huddersfield star, transfer guru Ross Wilson told the club website:

Juninho is a player whose qualities we have admired for a considerable period of time.

The structure of this agreement in terms of the contract and transfer agreement works for us at this time. I know that Juninho has been very focussed on a new and exciting challenge and that’s certainly what he now has here at Rangers.

We know that he will enjoy playing and developing even further working with Steven and our coaching and performance staff.

Between the lines it looks like the player will be getting incentivised to return south with Nathan Patterson and Jermain Defoe also removed from the Ibrox wage bill this month.

Aston Villa aren’t expected to come in with a last minute offer the midfield general.

Ianis Hagi is out for the remainder of the season through injury.
