A Lee O’Connor tweet from Tranmere Rovers drew almost equal praise for Ross Doohan from fans of the League Two promotion chasers.Â
The Celtic duo have become fixtures in Micky Mellons side who beat Scunthorpe United 4-0 yesterday to move into second place on the back of six successive wins.Â
O’Connor is a real mystery to Celtic supporters. Signed in 2019 from Manchester United at the same time as Jeremie Frimpong arrived at the club, he made his full international debut soon afterwards but failed to make the bench for one Celtic match.Â
No matter how well he is doing at Tranmere it is almost impossible to see him return to compete with or replace Tony Ralston or Josip Juranovic as Celtic’s first choice right-back.Â
Doohan will be 24 in March and like O’Connor has still to make his Celtic debut. While Conor Hazard has largely stayed at Celtic O’Connor has been out on loan at Ayr United, Dundee United and Ross County before venturing south to Tranmere.Â
Both players will have ambitions above playing in League Two but for now regular football and appreciation will be music to their ears from fans of the third force on Merseyside.Â
