After starting the transfer window with three additions to the squad it looks like Ange Postecoglou will have to move players on before he can bring in any more new faces.

On Friday the announcement that Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi had joined the hoops took supporters by surprise, not so much the signings but their timing.

In previous windows Celtic have tended to leave incoming business to the last few days, in August Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard moved on on deadline day while Jota and Giorgos Giakoumakis were welcomed on board.

Despite the volume of departures this year, including fringe players like Marian Shved, Vakoun Bayo, Jack Hendry and Patryk Klimala there are still a number of players signed over the last two seasons making little contribution to Postecoglou’s squad.

Under the headline Celtic will need to usher players out the door before bringing further transfers in – Alison McConnell it is explained in The Celtic Way how bloated the squad has become, more in terms of quantity than quality.

If Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas and Boli Bolingoli moved on this month they would barely be missed but the biggest issue is finding a club interested. Matching wages will be an issue while the current uncertainty makes loan deals more likely than a permanent move.

Leigh Griffiths could be added to that list with Celtic paying the bulk of his wages despite being on loan at Dundee.

Michael Nicholson will need to delve deep into his contact book to try and move players on, until then it looks like further incoming business could be put on hold.

McConnel is a former Celtic View reporter with strong contacts inside the club, in February 2019 she got the double scoop that Brendan Roders was leaving for Leicester with Neil Lennon coming in as caretaker.

Better to cut our loses and try and sell them at a discount if not try and loan them also Greek centreforward might need loaning to get him fit and match fit has only played a couple of games and @ucked up against livvy won’t be missed hope the new boys get into scoring quickly wish everybody a happy and safe 22.
