The J-League has given an English language send off to Celtic’s new signings- Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

Celtic announced the transfers on Friday to send their fans into the new year in the best of spirits with interest in the club back to Shunsuke Nakamura levels in Japan.

Back in the mid naughties half a dozen reporters were sent over to cover Nakamura’s every move, speaking daily to the player about every fixture and training session.

There are a number of Japanese players scattered across Europe, including Takehiro Tomiyasu at Arsenal and Takumi Minamino at Liverpool but no other club has four Japanese players with three of them current internationals.

The collective broadcasting contracts that the SPFL has means that Celtic can’t do their own television deals but a creative commercial team could put in place a number of deals to ensure that Celtic have a high profile in Japan with associated commercial deals around their four new players.
