Linfield calling as Lafferty is mutually consented again

Kyle Lafferty is on the look out for his sixth club since being mutually consented from Sevco in 2019.

It was billed as a dream move for the striker when he switched from Hearts to Ibrox in the summer of 2018 but after starting just eight matches and some unwelcome newspaper allegations Steven Gerrard decided to bin the international star.

In 2012 Lafferty refused to TUPE over to the club formed by Charles Green, moving on as a free agent to Sion. Now at the age of 34 he is looking for the 16th club of his career.

The Belfast Telegraph reports:

Warren Feeney believes maverick frontman Kyle Lafferty could be the answer to Linfield’s strike problems for the rest of the season.

The 34-year-old Northern Ireland international ended his contract with Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta by mutual agreement yesterday.

Lafferty scored eight goals in eight SPFL matches for Kilmarnock but was unable to prevent Tommy Wright’s side from being relegated.

That sort of scoring record should attract most clubs in the bottom half of the SPFL Premiership but it seems that managers are reluctant to welcome a renowned prankster into their dressing room.
