It seems that the social media abuse of Stenhousemuir Ladies during and after their Scottish Cup tie isn’t especially newsworthy.
Losing 14-1 to the Ibrox Ladies team is bad enough but when your appearance is being discussed in derogatory terms by opposition supporters it is another matter.
Screen captures of the abuse are readily available but it seems that the Scottish media is keen to underplay the matter.

Drivetime with John Beattie on Radio Scotland covered it without mentioning the group of fans involved, Stenny chairman and Orange Order apologist Iain McMenemy certainly didn’t want to name the club involved.
STV News covered in briefly with the focus firmly on the issue with the source of the online abuse kept till later in Raman Bhardwaj’s report. Neither BBC or STV have covered the issue online.
In recent times it seems that the most minor online comment can kick off a media frenzy, however yesterday’s abuse of Stenhousemuir’s unpaid players enjoying their sport isn’t worthy of comment.
Some shocking and disgusting comments being made on social media since the @RangersWFC game about some of our players.
Our players do a fantastic job and dont deserve that sort of abuse, they work hard and deserve nothing but respect. #WeAreWarriors pic.twitter.com/2g5ryKDBo2
