Celtic fans are sceptical over the rumoured signing of Martin Boyle from Hibs with a fee of £3m proving to be a bit of a deal breaker.
A story in The Scotsman this morning linked Celtic with the Hibs winger, a player whose career took off under Neil Lennon after blowing hot and cold with not much more to offer other than pace.
An international call up for Australia in November 2018, a country that the Aberdeen-born winger had never visited, seemed to elevate his game up a level as he added a scoring edge to his game.
Whether that improvement could lead to Celtic seems unlikely, transfers between the two clubs have been problematic in recent years with £3m likely to bring in better value in the Far East than Easter Road.
Boyle has scored an impressive 16 goals this season with seven of them coming in the SPFL, that sort of return could make a difference for any club in the second half of the season but where he fits in to Ange Postecoglou’s system isn’t obvious.
What is Martin Boyle's transfer value?
£1m, more cold than hot
£2m, he's got something about him
£3m, he could be the difference
After signing three players on December 31 there is a real fervour among Celtic fans for more new faces- there are still 30 days to go to see if Boyle makes the switch across the country.
