The strange circumstances of Nathan Patterson’s transfer to Everton took another twist today with Rafa Benitez sacked after less than seven months in charge.Â
According to some the former Liverpool boss spent most of that time trying to sign the Murray Park starlet but after splashing out on an undisclosed fee Benitez is history with Young Patterson still waiting for his Toffees debut.Â
With a new manager coming in to the club fifth from bottom of the EPL it is unlikely that Patterson’s development be a priority with a nice bonus on offer for staying up. Why Benitez was so interested in James Tavernier’s understudy is likely to remain a mystery.Â
Promoted relentlessly by Steve Clarke, the SFA and Scottish media, Patterson had played just 587 minutes in the SPFL. In contrast, Calvin Ramsey of Aberdeen, who is 21 months younger than Patterson, has played 940 minutes in the SPFL including 10 full matches this season.Â
While Everton and BBC Sport Merseyside described the transfer fee as undisclosed BBC Scotland and the usual suspects have been cheering about a fee ranging between £12-16m with upto £10m paid up front!Â
