Ange Postecoglou has put Chic Young in his place following the debut of Reo Hatate.

The veteran BBC reporter was on track-side duty at last night’s win over Hibs, giving him exclusive pre and post match access to the Celtic boss.

Hatate’s debut had earned the new bhoy the Man of the Match award following an eye-catching 75 minute performance, plunged straight in to a title race with new team-mates in a new continent.

There was plenty to take from the midfielder’s debut but Young wanted to cast his mind back more than a decade for an easier comparison.

Listening in to Radio Scotland last night, the Daily Record reports:

Hatate was given Man of the Match on his Celtic debut, with the midfielder impressing with his range of passing.

That led Chick Young to compare him to Parkhead icon Shunsuke Nakamura, but Postecoglou wasn’t entirely on board with that.

He replied: “No, he’s Reo Hatate mate. He’ll make his own mark and he’s a very talented young player and a very determined young man.

“They’re all different, like I said, and he’s one who has his eyes on reaching the very top in football and I’m glad to have him at our football club.

“We’re just going to try and get the best out of him and push him to the levels we know he can get.

Young won’t be the last BBC reporter to feel the sharp end of Postecoglou with poorly thought out questioning after a match.

Back in October Alasdair Lamont was taken to task when he questioned whether Celtic had deserved three points from their dominating performance at home to Ferencvaros.
