Celtic fans flocked to back Ange Postecoglou after he revealed that he told his players to hold back from tackling in the closing stages of the Scottish Cup win over Alloa Athletic.Â
Saturday night’s match was a bruising affair for the Celtic boss as he finally spoke out about the lenient approach of Scottish referees to foul and dangerous play.Â
Last month David Turnbull escaped largely unhurt from a brutal attack by Calum Butcher that Don Robertson thought was worth a yellow card, the SFA later imposed a three match suspension.Â
After the game on Saturday Postecoglou looked across a dressing room with Callum McGregor, Yosuke Guchi and Liel Abada all injured. Stephen Welsh and Jota could both have been added to that list.Â
When Kris Boyd got upset by a goal scored by Kyogo Furuhashi against Hearts, Crawford Allan was on Radio Scotland within 48 hours explaining the SFA’s view of things.Â
There has been no comment from the Head of Refereeing since Saturday’ match.Â
Three days after the bruising and costly visit to Alloa the Celtic boss spoke out about the treatment his players took and the failure of Robertson to apply the Laws of the Game.Â
?? ‘I told some of the lads towards the end to just not bother going into tackles and to just look after themselves…’

@ScottishFA Don Robertson put the safety of Celtic players at risk with his blatant failure make the correct decisions (as he has done several times this season). He cannot referee @CelticFC again and should be removed from all @spfl games.

Articulate and intelligent – it will be over the head of the bampots but the overriding point about referees ensuring a safe environment for all players is spot on. It’s a contact sport but reckless contact endangering players needs to be stamped out.

Spot on analysis from Ange. Refs have to be better at protecting players and get the big decisions right. Robertson totally failed to do that on Saturday night.

????????pity the Celtic board doesn’t feel the same.

Where is that big mouth Crawford Allan now? Why is he not apologising for his incompetent biased refs? Sack them all and start again.

Great to see a manager handle this is a measured and non-emotive way. Along with yet another retro red card being dished out, perhaps the SFA should be sitting Robertson down to spell out what a reckless tackle is.

Long overdue.

So, there we have it! The guy has been in the country 5 minutes and feels the need to speak out AGAIN about referees..

Sadly our club has been subject to this for decades. It’s so ingrained now that the refs probably dont even notice they are doing it. Unconscious bias is one of the things VAR will help stamp out.

Masonic refs are rats who love the green and white toget injured so sevco have a chance og CL money to save there 2nd club from LIQUIDATION ok.
For Ange to come out and say this, it shows what a total disgrace our board of directors are they should now stand up and be accounted for and take everyone in the sfa about these matters whether it be head of referees the referees in question the sfa/spfl.It is about time this incompetent board got a backbone instead of sitting like couldn’t care less clowns.
Biased masons will control VAR, it will make no difference.
This is why the english think spl is a pub league. Most games, they see Celtic getting booted all over the park. Referees allowing it to happen. HH
The people to oversee var in scotland have not yet been born,or educated in the ways and means of masonic or orange lodges. me im just a paranoid old celtic man.
Crawford Allan your silence is deafening.
masonic scum pushed into positions they can’t handle, can’t even hide it . it’s how many companies went to the wall in scotland. huns teaching huns, blind leading the blind comes to mind
The old board thought it might change with lawwell out the door.
If only our board had some bottle.
Where is Fergus McCann when you need him ? Celtic board for fuck sake wakin up before we get a player crippled .
As a shareholder i am appalled at the way our board are allowing our assets to be treated in such a way and thus depriving our manger the chance to field a team of his choice, What is the players association doing about players being put in danger by inept and biased referees? Before the game I knew what to expect they were told if you can’t get the ball kick the players knowing if by some miracle the ref owns up to seeing a bad tackle they will be unlucky to get a yellow card but not to worry Beaton won’t see another bad tackle and if a Celtic player breaths on you causing you to fall over out will come the card only reserved for Celtic players the red one
