It is something of an understatement to say that it is a long way from Seville to Bodo.

Back in May 2003 around 80,000 Celtic fans made their way to the southern Spanish city for the final of the UEFA Cup with the majority familiar with the Spanish Costas and Algarve through years of holidaying. Back in September Celtic were back in Seville to play Real Betis but tomorrow’s match in the Arctic Circle is a very different matter.

Budget airlines, easy transport links and sleeping out in a park under the Spanish sky was no big deal for a one in a generation opportunity to see Celtic at the centre of European football. Tomorrow’s match in Bodo is very different, very.

Over the last decade there has been regular trips to Trondheim, the fans travelling to tomorrow’s match will have to head 700 km further north to watch Ange Postecoglou’s side try to turn around a 3-1 first leg defeat.

The 5.635 capacity Aspmyra Stadium would look at home in the Lowland League, nestled in the Artic Circle it will be an artificial surface for the hoops to put their Europa Conference hopes on the line.

As ever the fans will make their way to back the bhoys with thousands watching from the comfort of home at one of the most bizarre competitive matches Celtic have ever played.
