It seems that most things in Scottish football can be connected in some obscure way to Celtic in the mind of Ewan Murray.
Mark McGhee and Gordon Strachan were Aberdeen team-mates, they were recently manager and assistant manager of Scotland with management posts as teams such as Middlesbrough, Wolves, Motherwell and Leicester City between them.
Their friendship goes back 40 years to Pittodrie under Alex Ferguson. Whatever your thoughts on the rights or wrongs of sacking James McPake it takes a certain mindset to drag Celtic into it. The mindset of the golf reporter at The Guardian spotted the link he was searching for.

McGhee’s appointment and the McPake business is clearly driven by Strachan, if Dundee drop into the Championship the blame will rest with the former Scotland manager.
Celtic host Dundee on Sunday, it is unlikely that the bookmakers odds will have changed due to McGhee taking charge of the club.
The golf season will soon be up and running, hopefully the Guardian reporter can find something to distract his mind from imagined events involving the 1986 Scottish champions.
