On loan winger Jota teed Celtic up for a crucial win over Aberdeen then sunk the winning putt seconds after the Dons had drawn level.

It was a night of drama in the north-east as Celtic made it six SPFL wins on the bounce in 2022 to maintain their one point lead at the top of the table.

Jota missed most of December due to a hamstring injury but match by match he looks back in the swing of things as Ange Postecoglou’s side power forward.

A moment of hesitancy in the home defence allowed Jota to open the scoring after 16 minutes, after taking the congratulations of his team-mates he signalled to Joe Hart then played an imaginary golf shot to the former England keeper.

Matt O’Riley enjoyed a stroke of good fortune for Celtic’s second which deflected off David Bates before finding the net.

The best was saved to last when Jota turned the Aberdeen celebrations into howls of protest as he buried a 62nd minute shot past Gary Woods as Celtic took a huge step towards reclaiming this season’s title.
