The agent for Antoine Semenyo has claimed that there has been contact with Celtic.

How interested Celtic are in the Bristol City striker isn’t known but with Tony Finnigan speaking to Football Scotland about a potential transfer it is likely that Celtic’s interest will cool.

Semenyo has scored six goals this season which is hardly likely to put him in the shop window but last month’s signing of Matt O’Riley from MK Dons demonstrates that Celtic are scouting in the lower divisions of the England game.

Finnian told Football Scotland:

I had a conversation with Strachan (Craig, Celtic scout) who rang up to ask little bits of info on the player and a bit about how I found him and what he’s like as a lad.

That was it. If it’s something they’re going to do in the summer window I’m not sure but it’s nice to know that his talents are going as far as Scotland to one of the great institutions in world football. There’s not really much more to say than that.

Six goals from 15 starts and six appearances off the bench is moderate form in the Championship but there may be something in Semenyo’s game that has appealed to Celtic.

With his contract running to May 2023 with Bristol City the next few months will likely decide whether or not he will be offered a suitable new deal to remain at Ashton Gate.

I remember just 2 or 3 seasons back Bristol City had been out bidding us for players, now it looks like we are taking players from them.
