Celtic are reported to be in talks with Russian side Ufa over a deal for Boli Bolingoli.

Peter Lawwell identified the Belgian as the man to replace Kieran Tierney in the summer of 2019 but it is difficult to think of a more disastrous deal while Lawwell was CEO.

Greg Taylor was swiftly signed up as a Plan B with Diego Laxalt, Jonny Hayes, Adam Montgomery, Liam Scales and Josip Juranovic all played at left-back ahead of Bolingoli.

Now, with the Russian transfer window closing tomorrow The Sun reports:

Bolingoli has been a Celtic misfit since going AWOL during the height of pandemic restrictions. The defender made a secret trip to Spain on holiday with his controversial trip bombshell news at the time.

After a loan spell in Turkey he made two appearances for Celts this season. But he’s now on his way out of the club with Russian outfit FC Ufa attempting to sign him before their transfer deadline tomorrow.

The report doesn’t mention whether the move is a loan or permanent deal, with current tensions in Ukraine there might be a lack of external into Russia tomorrow.

A fee in the region of £2.5m was reported at the time of the transfer from Rapid Vienna.

Concerns about the deal were first raised when Neil Lennon left the summer signing out of the Champions League qualifier against Cluj with Callum McGregor switched to left back.

Bolingoli was back in favour for the win at Ibrox at the start of September 2019 but after a run in the side through the autumn he barely featured between the winter break and Lockdown, then he took a fight to Spain.
