Jim Spence has revealed that he had to plead with Ibrox fans not to attack the Press Box at Tannadice on Sunday.
The Press Box at Dundee United is virtually unique in Scottish football, located in among the visiting support.
Spence was for many years the voice of Tayside on Radio Scotland with regular television work putting a face to the voice.
These days he writes a weekly column for The Courier as well as keeping tabs on everything going on in a lively Twitter account.
Out of order. Folk are not paid to be assaulted at work. I had to leave the press box yesterday at Tannadice to have a word with Rangers fans banging on the windows and screaming obscenities at those of us working inside. Not acceptable in any working environment to be threatened https://t.co/fiOsKx0Ibp

Only a few stewards in the vicinity. Not their fault.

In the 76th minute of Sunday’s coverage from Sky Sports the banned Billy Boys song could be heard being from the majority of the visiting support, filling two sides of the stadium.
There has been no mainstream comment on this with the SPFL and SFA on mute. There has been no condemnation or warning of consequences from the Ibrox club.
