‘Sportscene refused to show this?’ ‘Shocking, but unfortunately not surprising’ ‘Get Tom English to comment’ BBC under fire as they airbrush over Hibs penalty claim at Ibrox

BBC Scotland was under fire after trying to cover up a very clear claim for a penalty claim for Hibs at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

As a prompt Shaun Maloney discussed it in a post-match call to Radio Scotland but it failed to make the cut for Sportscene as they tried their best to discredit Jota’s winning goal at Aberdeen.

Having given a fifth minute penalty to the hosts at Ibrox, Nick Walsh was perfectly placed to see Calvin Bassey and Ryan Porteous at a corner to Hibs.

Over a four second spell Bassey puts his left arm around his opponents, as Porteous makes his move the Ibrox defender tracks him then brings him crashing to the deck. Walsh missed it all, just like the editing team on Sportscene.

With just two goals to cover from Ibrox there is no excuse for BBC Scotland ‘missing’ the incident. There wasn’t much else to include in their highlights package. An incident midway through the first half wouldn’t upset their scheduling too much.

From Pittodrie the BBC were able to pour all over Celtic’s third goal, complete with thick squiggly lines to try and prove a point. Jota’s disallowed goal in the first half failed to make it past the state broadcaster to be shared with the BBC licence payer.
