Tom Rogic proved that Ange Postecoglou isn’t the only straight-talking Aussie at Celtic Park.

The midfielder is rarely quoted in the media but after scoring twice in the 4-0 win over Motherwell he was interviewed by Sky Sports after his Man of the Match performance.

Rogic had missed Celtic’s last three victories in the SPFL due to World Cup commitments with Australia but was back in the groove this afternoon as Celtic turned on the style to swamp their opponents.

Only the woodwork and a stray Motherwell arm denied the midfielder a hat-trick but being top of the SPFL wasn’t as much of a shock to Rogic as it was for Sky’s pitch side interviewer.

We’ve been top of the pile for the last decade. Obviously last season was disappointing, but it’s a familiar position for a lot of us and it’s about keeping working hard and not getting too carried away with it.

Everyone was watching us after the result in midweek so it was important we backed it up.

We’ve been doing that for a good few months now, and we’ve been getting some consistency together. We’re playing well and maybe now people will start taking a bit more notice.

It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet, Liel handed me the second one but for us it doesn’t matter too much who scores, it’s just about getting the result, playing well and building on the performance.

I know the manager well, I had him for four of five years with the national team and he’s been brilliant. I know the quality of manager he is and it’s nice to see people on this side of the world taking notice. He’s starting to get recognition because he’s done a hell of a job.

On Wednesday night Celtic take on Aberdeen, another club that has been on the receiving end of some Rogic magic down the years.

Eighteen months ago the midfielder almost left Celtic for an offer in the middle east, now reunited with a former international manager he is one of the driving forces pushing Celtic towards regaining the SPFL title that they claimed for nine successive seasons.
