Ange Postecoglou has been explaining Celtic’s back story to an Australian audience on Stan Sport.

This time last year Celtic were in the final days of Neil Lennon’s tenure as manager while the Greek born Australian was preparing for the new J-League season in charge of Yokohama F Marinos.

In spring 2022 Postecoglou and Celtic seem to be a perfect match with the new man more than just a coach trying to put a winning side on the park. Fans and players have invested fully in Postecoglou who seems to have found a home from home on the other side of the world.

Why the club was actually formed, to feed poor Irish immigrants. There was a purpose behind this club that has stayed with it right to this day. And for me that resonates very strongly being an immigrant in my own country.

South Melbourne Hellas, Melbourne Croatia, Sydney Croatia- all these clubs were set up the same way. They weren’t set up solely to be football clubs, they set up to help people adjust.

Postecoglou seemed to be in good spirits after being less than thrilled by Sunday’s 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers.

Despite comfortably securing a place in the draw for the quarter-finals the hoops boss warned his players that he won’t ever settle for anyone putting in a 45 minute shift.
