Wishful thinking at BBC Scotland over the league leaders

Celtic’s 0-0 draw at Hibs yesterday sparked a variety of celebrations across Scotland.

For those heading to Ibrox it was the opportunity to beat Motherwell and cut the gap at the top of the table down from four points to just one. As a bonus, on the back of knocking Borussia Dortmund out of the Europa League, Celtic’s superior goal difference could also take a hit.

Someone at BBC Scotland got over-excited, perhaps it was one of theIR rugger experts thinking that a heavy win could bring a bonus point, or two.

No matter what the scoreline could be only three points were available, Celtic’s point at Hibs put them four clear, they were always going to be top of the SPFL table no matter how many goals Gio’s Euro heroes rattled in.

As it happens Motherwell earned a 2-2 draw, the gap was reduced from four points to three with more than just Kenny Macintyre at BBC Scotland unhappy with that outcome.
