With more than 20 years experience in Scottish sport Tom English is still unable to source a story that doesn’t have fingerprints leading along Gorgie Road.
A year long love in-with Craig Whyte ended disastrously with the egg-chasing expert still singing the praises of the former billionaire even after the Daily Record had thrown Whyte overboard.
The really interesting thing to take from this email, is the collaboration in fabricating a narrative to get a point across.
It’s all staged.“Tom English has said he’ll have a pop at Paul Murray… Scotsman used his comments on the back page with our responses ie. irrelevant.” pic.twitter.com/UQz9KDfDZQ

With nothing on his journalistic CV English has effectively opted out by spending his time trawling for anything to attack Celtic on, it is unlikely that even BBC Scotland will offer him time and space to offer his crass views on the tragic death of Shane Warne at the age of 52.
Yesterday’s tweet gives another insight into the ‘talents’ of the chief Sports Writer at BBC Scotland. So important is he to the state broadcaster that they left him at home when they drew up their staffing lists for the Tokyo Olympics and the Lions Tour of South Africa.
There are dozens of topical stories around in sport at the moment. English doesn’t have the insight or contacts to chin-stroke his way through 1,000 words relevant to the impact of the Ukraine invasion has had on sport.
Nothing on the impact on Scotland’s Play Off tie, nothing on the UEFA decision to ban Russian teams. Nothing on the variety of sports that have applied sanctions to Russian sports.
But.
If Celtic pay their respects to one of the 20 biggest figures in sport this century, someone who has been interviewed alongside the Celtic manager in the last year it is just too good for the man from the state broadcaster to apply his crass logic to.
BBC Scotland is fully funded by BBC licence payers. English is expected to be part of Radio Scotland’s weekend sports coverage.
Tom must you flaunt your obviousness at every turn?

That’s you looking for something there – nah, mate!
— Mark Lucas ?? (@SamiGod9) March 4, 2022
I only watched a video link between Ange & Shane last month so there is a connection between them so for you to suggest this is a disgrace @BBCSportsound should sack you and @CelticFC should not allow you in the ground unless your man enough to apologise but I doubt that

Disgraceful observation on your part Tom English
— Brendan McCarthy (@Brendan93926440) March 5, 2022
You are absolutely tragic Tom, no matter what Celtic do you always find away to have a dig at them. Pathetic.
— Cormac Mc Closkey (@IcemanClosk) March 5, 2022
The thing about @TEnglishSport is he’s a rugby man and his knowledge of football is on a par with a primary school child. His opinion on the sport is irrelevant. He’s there to antagonise supporters which he’s good at. His tweet about Shane Warne proves that. Utterly unlikable.

Do you really need to act like an utter fud the whole time. Have a day FFS a man has died.
— Mick (@spikeyb0y) March 5, 2022
Yet again Tom seems to be in need of attention so despite the sincerity of the message after sudden death of a legend he tries to stir up controversy out of nothing – surely more important things to fill your ‘journalistic’ brain is there not Tom? Stop attention seeking

It’s just a post to promote that wretch Tom English who is plumbing the depths yet again trying to make himself relevant. A pity of a man.

A nomark remarking on a legend.

You are a shit journalist. I am embarrassed that you are in my profession.
— Gotta Have Faith (@Suz89841999) March 5, 2022
Hacks like you feel threatened these days as your lack of knowledge in the field of sport is being exposed by more informed outlets so the need to feel relevant and justify your salary with your employer means tweeting from the gutter
— derek kavanagh (@derekkavanagh14) March 5, 2022

Totally agree with the post but not for the first time youre own cut and paste tactics are shown up “Gorgie Road” wtf
What an example you are to your family not one bit of compassion to Shane Warne and his family just to have a pop at Glasgow Celtic I really hope you are held to account by your BBC bosses… RIP SHANE ?
