Big George earns the praise of revered Celtic striker

Chris Sutton knows a thing or two about playing the role of target man.

For four and a half seasons he filled that position for Celtic, if he wasn’t in the forward line John Hartson would be in there knocking defenders about and popping in goals.

It isn’t really a role that Celtic have specialised in with strikers tending to be the speedy and sharp type with Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda meeting that criteria.

Giakoumakis is a very different option, with two goals tonight he showed his bravery and instinct to take his tally since the turn of the year to seven.

After a difficult start to his Celtic career the Greek striker looks very comfortable leading the attack with his confidence and influence on the team growing with each appearance.

Kyogo Furuhashi is expected to be available at some stage next month but there are no guarantees that he will return as Celtic’s first choice striker.
