Celtic are reported to have played Motherwell in a closed doors match on Thursday.

With 16 days between the 4-0 win over Ross County and the Glasgow derby Ange Postecoglou was keen to get some playing time for his non-internationalists.

Football Scotland have provided very brief details on the match, the most significant being that there is no mention of Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese striker was spotted in the background during a training session last week with fans speculating over when he will make his first appearance of 2022.

Football Scotland reports:

Ange Postecoglou got some minutes into his fringe players in a friendly clash during the international break. The Hoops welcomed Motherwell to Lennoxtown on Thursday for a bounce game.

It’s understood that Celtic ran out 5-2 winners with Christopher Jullien, Albian Ajeti and Mikey Johnston amongst the goalscorers. Boli Bolingoli also played after he returned from his loan spell with Russian side Ufa.

From Wednesday onwards Celtic’s international players will return to Lennoxtown but it will only be in Friday and Saturday that the team for Ibrox will take shape.

Between domestic fixtures Reo Hatate will have flown to Australia and Japan on international duty with the midfielder running up more miles than any of his team-mates.

Daizen Maeda and Tom Rogic missed out on international duty with their fitness, alongwith Kyogo, the main sources of concern ahead of Sunday’s trip to Ibrox.
