Ibrox Civil War: Jorg Albertz calls out Daily Record over fabricated story about Absent Friends

Daily Record readers were treated to an emotional column by Jorg Albertz voicing his concerns about events around the club, focussing on the absence of Derek Johnstone, Mark Hateley and Richard Gough from yesterday’s celebrations.

All three were stripped of their Ambassador roles (and salary) after being viewed as being too closely associated with Dave King.

The former Ibrox chairman has been masterminding a media attack on his former Blue Room colleagues but on this occasion they have overstepped the mark.

According to Albertz his column in the Record was nothing like his words to an un-named reporter.

This morning the Record claimed:

What should never be forgotten is that all of the Rangers Legends who lined up yesterday have given so much to the club. Some faces were surprisingly absent so there was sadness too.

The club should take pride in these players and men such as Mark Hateley, Richard Gough and Derek Johnstone . That’s why their removal as club ambassadors is concerning.

Having them around the club should be a given but is there a belief within the board that they are too aligned to former chairman Dave King? I don’t know. It’s all a bit too insecure and lacking in respect for men who deserve better.

It seems that an outsider or someone inside the Record decided to use Albertz to further their attacks on Douglas Park and the current executive team.
