Graham Alexander has called Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s bluff after the Dutchman suddenly became a convert to VAR.Â
Clearly aware of the vast catalogue of honest mistakes to his club since formation in 2012 the new Ibrox boss steered clear of ‘what if’ loaded questions from his club’s media partners after a few marginal decisions didn’t go their way.Â
One Ibrox Twitter account managed to explain the 25 point swing against their club caused by honest mistakes from the loyal officials largely selected from areas of Lanarkshire and Glasgow.Â
After drawing with Motherwell on Sunday van Bronckhorst changed his tune. With two ‘goals’ from Alfredo Morelos correctly ruled offside the Ibrox PR team found a marginal offside call against on-loan Celt Liam Shaw 35 seconds before Motherwell organised.Â
Asked about van Bronckhorst’s excuse making and if he agreed that Shaw had been offside, Alexander told the Daily Record:Â
No. I thought the decisions I saw on TV were right. Liam was offside about 35 seconds before we actually scored the equaliser.Â
They had possession of the ball three times before that. It went out of the box, back in and it was the third phase after that we scored.Â
Liam looked offside from the pass but 35 seconds before the goal I don’t think we are getting into that territory – VAR is about the immediate lead up to goals.Â
Liam being offside didn’t have any significant part to play in the goal. If we had VAR in the last year we’d already have beaten them twice. That’s the reality.Â
Last season Cedric Itten was offside when he scored an equalising goal at Fir Park, in September Fashion Sakala was offside in the six yard box when he headed the opening goal against Mothewell in a 1-1 draw.Â
Alexander is the son of a Rangers (in liquidation) fan but growing up in England he has more interest in his own success and fairness than helping the club from Ibrox to success.Â

GIRFUY YA HUN BASTARDS! St. Joanstin will put the league tae bed rangt wae Auld ‘Weetabix’ knees McGrunter unable tae move lol!!! 6 pts wae 9 games tae go, Trebles in the bag!!
