Out of bounds- the big topic that BBC Sportsound won’t go near

On Sunday afternoon Radio Scotland provided commentary on the Scottish Cup tie from Dens Park against a backdrop of persistent Anti-Irish and Anti-Catholic singing from the away supporters.

There was no comment never mind criticism from the state broadcaster, perhaps they are used to the song-sheet or even quietly approve of the sentiments. Who knows?

Last week three former professional players manager to get very upset over a dispute corner and throw-in during Celtic’s 3-1 win away to Livingston. There hasn’t been a peep of complaint about the sound content from Dundee.

All of the away fans are Season Ticket holders, applying for tickets and rewarded for previous attendance.

The match was mainly played in daylight with CCTV coverage available from the stadium. But it seems that one form of racism is shrugged aside in Scotland.

In 2019 UEFA twice closed parts of Ibrox for Europa League matches due to racist chanting from fans. Those sanctions prompted the launch of the Everyone, Anyone deflection campaign.
