People are ignoring what we are doing- Ange Postecoglou responds to media meltdown at Livingston

Ange Postecoglou has responded to the media storm that followed Celtic’s 3-1 victory over Livingston on Sunday.

BBC Scotland led the onslaught with live radio commentary followed by forensic examination of a throw-in on Sportscene accompanied by constant analysis on their website.

Two decisions did go in Celtic’s favour but they weren’t match defining or in the immediate build up to goals, more than two similar decisions went against Postecoglou’s side.

Every match has at least one disputed corner kick, throw-ins are routinely claimed and handballs come and go, some are seen by the referee and viewed as not being deliberate.

After the build up that focussed on 15 years without a win at Livingston the scoreline was downplayed with an incredible focus on two borderline decisions in Celtic’s favour, other honest mistakes by the officials were airbrushed away.

Look, as you know, I don’t get into that too much. It seems that a lot of the analysis of games here are just a Referee Watch than analysis of the actual game.

Yeah, like we got a corner that we maybe shouldn’t have but does that mean that if we get a corner that we maybe shouldn’t have next time that we miss out on a goal? There is still a helluva lot of things that need to happen for us to score from that resultant corner or throw-in.

You know it is very easy for people to look for those sort of clutches, I will let that story-line run, that means that people are ignoring what we are doing and the way that we are playing if people think that we are in our position because we are getting favourable decisions by the officials then more power to them. We’ll just keep doing what we are doing

John Beaton will referee Monday’s Scottish Cup tie away to Dundee United which will be shown live by Premier Sports.
