Barry Ferguson believes that having Kyogo Furuhashi on the bench at Ibrox on Sunday would give Celtic a massive boost.

The striker shrugged off a hamstring injury to play in the League Cup Final in December and responded by scoring twice against Hibs to deliver the first trophy of the season.

Kyogo started against St Johnstone a week later but only lasted 15 minutes and hasn’t been sighted since other than popping up in the background of a Lennoxtown training clip two weeks ago.

Ange Postecoglou has avoided giving out any timelines over when the former Vissel Kobe striker will be back in action but after three months out a return can’t be too far away.

Discussing Kyogo during his appearance on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports Ferguson saying:

I don’t think he will start the game, he’s been out for far too long. Listen, what a boost for Celtic it would be if he finds himself in the squad or even on the bench.

I know as a professional you need to play games of football but I’m sure he’s working hard behind the scenes and don’t be surprised if he’s included in the match day squad. If he’s included it will give the Celtic players a major boost, and the fans.

Postecoglou will host a media conference on Thursday or Friday and is likely to remain vague about the fitness of Kyogo. Celtic normally produce video clips from training which will be closely scanned for signs of a certain striker.
