Nick McPheat is considering an article about Ange Postecoglou replacing Eddie Howe at Newcastle United.

In midweek the BBC Scotland reporter attracted plenty of attention as he went into detail about why James Tavernier is in his seventh season at Ibrox and not competing with Trent Alexander Arnold at Liverpool.

While a decent competent player it is quite a stretch to catapult the 30-year-old Ibrox star into contention at Liverpool, or Manchester City, but McPheat managed to take that conclusion from interviews with Mark Warburton and Steve Evans, currently managing Stevenage who are second bottom of EFL League Two.

Postecoglou’s impact at Celtic will certainly be noticed by English clubs, whether that would result in an offer being made to the 56-year-old remains to be seen.

With some very important weekends coming up Postecoglou has plenty to focus his thoughts on while McPheat and perhaps others speculate over what path his career will take.
