Ange masterfully dodges critical transfer issue

Transfer

Ange Postecoglou neatly skipped around the issue of Cameron Carter-Vickers joining Celtic on a permanent basis.

The defender has played every minute of every SPFL match since the turn of the year with his importance emphasised in the win at Ibrox earlier this month when he popped up with the decisive goal then put the shutters up to ensure a decisive victory.

It looks unlikely that Carter-Vickers will have played his way into a place at Spurs but his Celtic form and background of playing in the English Championship could trigger some EPL interest.

Your defence is really starting to come together, that partnership between Starfelt and Cameron is looking phenomenal. I was just wondering, how pleased are you with that progression throughout the season, and, more importantly will you be getting that contract for Cameron signed soon?

It was like the answer from a politician as Postecoglou discussed all aspects of how the defence has evolved over the course of the season without any reference to Carter-Vickers joining on a permanent basis.

There has been a number of reports suggesting what is required to make the deal permanent but only a very select band of people will know what is involved.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy is one of the toughest negotiators in the transfer market, any deal for one of his players is likely to be laced with add-ons weighted in Spurs’ favour.
