BBC Scotland pundit goes off message with Ibrox cash warning

Richard Foster is expecting a summer exodus of stars from Ibrox because the club aren’t flush with cash.

The former Rangers defender is best known for appearances on Sportscene and Sportsound where cash issues at Ibrox are strictly off the menu.

According to BBC Scotland an £11m fee was paid up front by Everton for Nathan Patterson with another £5m in the pipeline for that deal. Three months into his Goodison career the former Murray Park starlet s still waiting for his EPL debut.

Last season the Ibrox directors funded £23.5m of losses, when Jon Dahl Tomasson led Malmo to victory in the Champions League qualifiers that gamble suddenly became costly.

Steven Gerrard wasn’t prepared to hang around for the rebuild but with the riches of the Champions League group stage again looking distant some serious cost cutting is expected to bite.

Picking up on his appearance on PLZ Soccer, The Sun reports Foster saying:

I think they will want to sell a Morelos or a Ryan Kent. I think the timing is right. They have both had relatively good seasons.

It’s not as if Rangers are flush with cash, every month we hear how much Rangers are losing month on month.

They will need to sell some of their big players or their board are going to have to dig into their pockets again and help them out with money.

With Morelos crocked and Cameron Carter-Vickers scoring twice as many SPFL goals as Kent there is unlikely to be a stampede of clubs looking to splash out on the damaged goods with a season left on their contracts.

Should Celtic request a full public review of security at Ibrox from Sunday?

Yes, we need to know the levels of security including CCTV imaging
