Daily Record hit rock bottom as they award unofficial Google Search Cup to their Ibrox heroes

With Celtic winning last week’s Glasgow derby the Daily Record has found some consolation for dejected Ibrox fans.

A 12 point swing since the winter break has handed Celtic the title initiative with three of their final matches at home while Giovanni van Bronckhorst takes his side to Hearts, Celtic and Motherwell.

Next Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final does give the Ibrox club the chance of a real trophy but just in case the Daily Record has decided that based on google searches the Tribute Act are apparently Scotland’s favourite club. A title that even the Record admits is unofficial.

With print sales nervously hanging on at just over 70,000 copies a day it seems that those Google searches are luring away the Record’s Army of Readers as they describe their ageing readership.

Reassuring their elderly readers that the Tribute Act, or Old Firm FC as they have recently rebranded themselves may have very short term benefits but with the Record and Sunday Mail being slaughtered on social media a few more readers are likely to fall off the April circulation figure.
