DELETE! Crass Tom English oversteps the mark again

Tom English has again had to turn to the DELETE button as he jumped the gun to criticise Hibs owner Ron Gordon.

Last month the Chief Sports Reporter for BBC Scotland was forced to delete a tweet criticising Celtic’s ‘crass’ reaction in expressing their condolences following the death of Shane Warne.

BBC decided to apologise directly to Celtic after some fans went through the complaints procedure.

It seems that no lessons have been learned by the former Scotsman reporter. Despite having no commercial pressures it seems that English can’t help logging in to Twitter for some self-publicity.

Wading in head first to throw about opinions ahead of watching an interview is the action of an excitable adolescent on social media, not a flabby middle aged professional with more than 20 years experience in reporting on Scottish sport.

It seems that his affection for matters Gorgie-related inspired the latest ill-judged tweet. During the summer of 2020 English used his place on Sportsound to bring in Leslie Deans, Gregory Campbell, Scot Gardiner and Ann Budge to bang the drum from Hearts.
