Barry Bannan has saluted Ange Postecoglou for his classic put down of BBC Scotland reporter Andy Burke.

Given the opportunity to question the manager that is four points away from winning the SPFL Premiership title in his first season in Scottish football Burke’s first thoughts were to get Postecoglou to praise Sunday’s opponents.

In a roundabout manner he wanted the Celtic’s boss to comment on the Europa League run of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side. When he got slapped back with a mate comment Burke gave out a nervous laugh and switched to a tame question about Celtic’s backroom staff that Postecoglou has already answered many times.

Bannan was born in Coatbridge but has spent his whole playing career in England, starting off at Aston Villa, impressing at Blackpool and is now in his seventh season at Sheffield Wednesday. Between 2010 and 2017 he picked up 27 full caps for Scotland.
