Much nonsense- Chris Sutton fires back at the Celtic snipers

An 87th minute goal from Jota calmed Celtic’s title nerves as Ange Postecoglou’s side took a decisive step towards winning the Premiership title.

Kyogo Furuhashi had given the hoops the lead with an 12th minute header but the longer than the game went with that lead some concerns started to build in.

Barry Ferguson and others had questioned the bottle of the Celtic players but an unbeaten run in the SPFL stretching back to September deserves respect.

Joe Hart had no significant saves to make but with Kevin Clancy in charge Celtic players were given virtually no protection as the home side were awarded a succession of free kicks to launch into the Celtic penalty area.

With three of the regulation minutes left to play Liel Abada cut the ball back from the bye-line, Giorgos Giakoumakis saw his shot touched onto the bar with Jota getting in front of Connor Randall to net in front of the delighted travelling support.

Celtic now have four matches left to play, three of them at home with a six point lead and massive goal difference advantage over their second placed rivals.

A month after losing to Celtic in the Scottish Cup Ferguson walked away from managing Alloa Athletic.
