Josh Windass has been officially recognised as a ‘Rangers’ legend with the delivery of a special edition coin.

The journeyman midfielder spent two seasons of the peak Banter Years at Ibrox before Wigan Athletic came in with a £1.75m offer than Steven Gerrard was delighted to pick up.

Mark Warburton swooped for Windass and team-mate Matt Crooks from Accrington Stanley in January 2016 but the two clubs were unable to agree terms with the move delayed to the summer.

Windass played in both of the 5-1 hammerings in his debut season and also lost to Celtic in the League Cup semi-final when Moussa Dembele scored with a late back-heeler.

The following season saw Dean’s little lad score against Celtic in March 2018 but Odsonne Edouard came off the bench to put paid to that nonsense.

There were two more gubbings for Josh to endure as the hoops won 4-0 at Hampden then 5-0 at Celtic Park to clinch the title.

This season the 28-year-old has been ripping it up in League One with Sheffield Wednesday where he has made a total of nine appearances.
