A report in The Sun has claimed that Josip Juranovic suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.

That type of injury has dogged Celtic throughout the season with Tom Rogic, Carl Starfelt, Albian Ajeti, Jota, Kyogo Furuhashi and David Turnbull all missing at least a month of action with that muscle injury.

Juranovic took a tumble near the touchline during the second half of Sunday’s match and was immediately replaced by Tony Ralston.

A month out would mean that the season is over for Juranovic but Giorgos Giakoumakis suffered a hamstring injury in the 7-0 win over St Johnstone but is believed to be in contention to face Ross County on Saturday.

At 8.25 this morning The Sun reported:

Ange Postecoglou faces an anxious week over the fitness of key duo Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josip Juranovic .

The on-loan stopper looked trouble in the closing stages of extra-time while full-back Juranovic had to be come off with a hamstring injury. Liel Abada also limped off in the defeat to Rangers.

Postecoglou said: “I think both sets of players were pretty spent. They gave everything, so I’ll see what the wash-up is.

“I don’t think it’s going to keep anyone out at the moment. It was disappointing and obviously an opportunity missed.”

Ralston is the obvious replacement for Juranovic but with five matches left to play Postecoglou could be doing with having as many players fit and available as possible.

Welsh and Chris Jullien are options to replace Carter-Vickers who has played in every single minute of the 13 SPFL matches in 2022.
