They’ve chucked it domestically- Keith Jackson takes aim at Ibrox one hit wonders

Keith Jackson has claimed that some of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad have given up on domestic trophies.

Last season James Tavernier, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Connor Goldson and a few others ended their long wait to pick up a winner’s medal.

While winning one trophy usually triggers a desire for more such was the hype around last season’s SPFL title the imported players could easily have thought that they had accomplished the only mission of their career.

The League Cup has already gone elsewhere, Celtic are six points ahead in the Premiership with six matches to go with just the Scottish Cup offering a 1 in 4 chance of success.

Goldson, Allan McGregor, Leon Balongun, Scott Arfield and Steve Davis are out of contract next month with Morelos, Kent and Joe Aribo having just over a year left on their deals. Renewal talk has been very quiet.

Calvin Bassey should still be around for the rebuild, yesterday he was put up to speak to media partners.

Looking on, in today’s Daily Record, referring to Bassey Jackson claimed:

While some of his team-mates appear to have convinced themselves they have achieved as much as they ever can in Glasgow, or at least in Scotland’s domestic competitions, Bassey gives off a different impression.

It has seemed throughout this roller coaster campaign as if one or two of these players have been more focused on showcasing themselves on Thursday nights on the European stage where, almost without fail they have managed to excel.

With Celtic in action on Saturday Bassey and his team-mates could kick-off Sunday’s match away to St Mirren trailing by nine points in the SPFL Premiership.
