Aiden McGeady has opened up on what went on behind closed doors at Dunfermline in December 2006.

Cruising to a 2-0 victory at East End Park a late goal was conceded that resulted in mayhem between some of the biggest names at the club.

On the pitch fans could see a heated confrontation between Neil Lennon and McGeady, Artur Boruc wasn’t far away from the exchanges but the real fireworks came in the dressing room moments later.

McGeady and Gordon Strachan had a tetchy relationship during their four seasons at Celtic, that spell did deliver three titles with the Irish internationalist one of the key figures in that success but in an interview for BBC Scotland McGeady reveals the depth of his manager’s dislike and anger.

Strachan totally backed Lenny up, Lenny was in the wrong. Lenny was in the wrong but Strachan totally backed Lenny up because he didn’t like me.

And he was like ‘Some guys at this club have been doing it for years and years, seen years they’ve been doing it for, not even missing a pass. And then you’ve got guys like him (talking about me) and he’s like ‘Aiden you might get a few girls when you go to a nightclub because you’ve got some fancy flicks’ and I was like that ‘what has that got to do with anything?’

But then, just as he is finishing having a go at me Iain Jamieson (Celtic’s Communications Manager) pops his head in the door and he’s like ‘gaffer, Aiden got man of the match’.

He’s like ‘No, he’s no getting it, he’s like, no, he’s not getting it, he’s not getting it. He went ‘Darren’ Darren O’Dea played that day, it was like his debut, he went ‘Darren, you were man of the match so go and get it’ so Darren had to go and talk to Setanta and get man of the match for me and they gave him the bottle. I couldn’t even go out the dressing room.

In December 2008 Strachan suspended McGeady for two weeks with Koki Mizuno coming in to the first team including starting in a 1-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox. Mizuno only started two Celtic matches with a further nine appearances off the bench.

After leaving Celtic in May 2007 Lennon returned as first team coach in February 2008.

Strachan and Lennon are not nice people.
I was a guest of the club on several occasions when they were there and I witnessed their repugnant and arrogant way of dealing with people.
