Anthony Joseph expects Celtic to complete the permanent transfer of Jota from Benfica this week.
The winger joined Ange Postecoglou’s squad on the final day of last summer’s transfer window making a big impact scoring 13 goals and being a key component in the side.
Playing on the left or right with Jota scored in three of Celtic’s post-split fixtures including the critical opener in the May 1 Glasgow derby that effectively sealed the SPFL title.
Benfica are believed to have set up a complex option in the loan deal to convert the move into a permanent deal with talks reported with the player and his representatives.

After the massive scale of last season’s turnover transfer activity this year is likely to be far more measured with permanent contracts for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Jota’s Benfica contract runs until June 2024 but there seems little interest from the Portuguese club in giving him a fresh start in Lisbon.
