Celtic are reported to be close to completing the signing of Mohanad Jeahze from Hammarby.

The left-back is under contract until the end of 2023 but seems set to become Ange Postecoglou’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

A fee of £2m is being reported with Jeahze competing with Greg Taylor in much the same way as Tony Ralston and Josip Juranovic have battled for the right-back slot.

At 6pm on Tuesday The Sun reports:

CELTIC are on the verge of securing £2 million Hammarby defender Mohanad Jeahze.

SunSport revealed last month that Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou wants the Iraqi left-back as part of his squad for next season.

And a deal to bring the 25-year-old to Glasgow this summer is now close to being completed.

The in-demand player has decided he wants to make the move to Celtic Park, with the clubs now putting the finishing touches to the overall package.

All being well, he will move to Scotland as soon as the summer window opens and join up with the Hoops squad for pre-season.

Jeahze is regarded as the top full-back in Sweden after making the move to Hammarby from Mjallby two years ago.

At the age of 25, Jeahze is in the same age bracket as Celtic’s four J-League signings plus Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Rather than speculate on projects or look at resale value Postecoglou’s priority is bring in first team ready signings.

Hammerby’s season is already underway with Jeahze playing in six matches, the deal could be completed at the start of June giving the defender a month long break before joining up with Celtic in time for their Austrian pre-season training camp.
